On August 21, the NVI Technology Innovation Alliance, jointly led by China Media Group and the China Film and Television Technology Society, was officially established at the BIRTV2024 Ultra-High-Definition Full Industry Chain Development Seminar.
The NVI Technology Innovation Alliance currently brings together 21 core units in the broadcasting and audiovisual industry chain, covering the entire industry chain from research and development to production and practical application. Its aim is to jointly promote the development and application of NVI transmission protocol technology, further build an independent, controllable, open, and advanced transmission protocol standard, and enhance China's international voice in the professional audiovisual field.

As one of the founding members of the alliance, Sobey will serve as the secretariat unit, providing strong support for the alliance's high-quality operation, technological innovation, and industrial application.
It is understood that the NVI Technology Innovation Alliance will focus on the following work objectives in the future:
Establish a Technical Collaboration Body
Organize and absorb relevant units, research institutions, and industry experts to form a technology alliance, jointly participate in technology research and development and standard drafting, promote the rapid development and innovation of NVI technology, and ensure continuous iteration and optimization of technology.
Develop Standards and Specifications
Formulate and release technical standards and specifications for the NVI transmission protocol, providing a unified technical foundation for the broadcasting and professional audiovisual fields.
Build an Ecosystem and Products
Build an ecosystem centered on NVI technology to promote related products and solutions.
Research, development, production, and application to form a complete industrial chain from technical standards to end products, enhancing the market competitiveness of alliance members.
Promote Industrial Application
Actively promote the widespread application of NVI technology in the broadcasting and professional audiovisual fields, and promote the technological progress and market expansion of related industries. Through resource integration and industry cooperation, assist related enterprises in innovation and expansion in domestic and international markets.
The establishment of the NVI Technology Innovation Alliance is an important measure to promote the accelerated development of China's Ultra-HD industry. Alliance members will give full play to the role of the alliance platform, promote the formulation of NVI technology standards and industrial application, provide more advanced, open and reliable technical support for China's broadcasting industry, and contribute new productivity to the high-quality development of the broadcasting industry.
At the alliance's establishment ceremony, the Technology Bureau of China Media Group released the "Network Video Interface (NVI)" technical white paper, which details the framework principles, technical advantages and application ecosystem of NVI technology. The NVI SDK toolkit and related testing tools were also released at the same time for manufacturers to use in developing NVI products.
The establishment of the NVI Technology Innovation Alliance marks a significant integration of key transmission technology forces in China's broadcasting and television industry. In the future, the alliance will continue to uphold the principles of openness, cooperation, and innovation, promoting the further improvement of NVI technology standards and large-scale industrial application, injecting new momentum and powerful energy into the industry's development.
About the NVI Network Video Interface
NVI is a cross-domain, cross-platform ultra-low latency transmission protocol jointly developed by China Media Group and Sobey. It achieves stable and reliable network video data transmission and efficiently reduces latency; it supports multicast and point-to-point transmission within a local area network, and supports remote point-to-point transmission over the public network. It can be widely used in real-time cloud rendering, cloud production, cloud broadcasting, HD/UHD live streaming, enterprise video conferencing, and multimedia live events, among other audiovisual scenarios.
