Overview
Mediavate is Sobey's modular broadcast-infrastructure family, built on embedded and FPGA architecture around a common 2RU, 20-slot chassis with redundant power. Recorders, gateways, converters, storage, AI analysis, the FMS-2246 converged production switcher, and the slow-motion replay system interoperate as one recording-plus-intelligence chain for OB vans, studios, and master control rooms.
Challenge
Live facilities are squeezed from both sides: more feeds in more formats than ever, and less rack space, cabling budget, and setup time to handle them. SDI plants and ST 2110 islands must run side by side without doubling the equipment.
Density limits
Recording a gala or a match means dozens of simultaneous camera feeds — traditional one-box-per-channel recording fills an OB van's racks fast.
IP/SDI coexistence
ST 2110, SDI, NVI, and NDI signals arrive in the same production and must convert, sync, and route without added latency.
HDR/SDR mixing
4K HDR cameras feed HD SDR outputs and vice versa — every conversion needs consistent color, ideally driven by metadata rather than hand-tuned per source.
Media turnaround
Recorded content has to reach playback servers and post-production in minutes, not after a file-copy marathon.
Solution
Each Mediavate unit solves one link in the chain and stacks with the rest.
- Recording — REC-1026 records up to 20 channels of 4K/HD SDI in a 2RU chassis with 4 TB local storage, mirrored dual-write, and plug-and-play SSD media; REG-1024 adds a built-in IP gateway, recording 10 channels of ST 2110 or SDI while looping the other format out.
- Conversion — IPG-1021, MCG-1016, MCG-1018, and MCS-1015 gateways convert between IP, SDI, and NVI with frame sync, dynamic multi-LUT HDR/SDR processing, and CCU-grade color restoration whose LUTs export to DaVinci Resolve and Final Cut Pro.
- Storage — SS20 and AS20 take 20 hot-swappable SSDs each and exchange media across systems through open metadata.
- Intelligence — The AI200 analyzes up to 20 live channels in real time — faces, scenes, speech, entities — writing tags straight into the media.
- Switching — The FMS-2246 converged switcher unifies SDI, ST 2110, NVI, and NDI with unlimited M/E cascading.
- Replay — The slow-motion system replays 8 channels of 4K from patented AMFS frame-level storage.

Result
A complete signal backbone from lens to library in a fraction of the rack space — high-density recording, metadata-driven conversion, live AI tagging, and instant replay that deploy together in OB vans, studios, and master control.
Channels of 4K/HD SDI recording in a single 2RU chassis (REC-1026).
Average latency for AI200 real-time analysis across up to 20 live channels.
Channels of 4K slow-motion replay from one unit, on 20–80 TB AMFS storage.
Interoperating models, from recorders and gateways to the FMS-2246 switcher.
