REC-1026
2CH 12G-SDI 4K recorder board for openGear.
2-channel 4K/HD capture per unit, scalable to 20 channels in a 2U chassis — with local NVMe storage, dual-write backup, multi-format encoding, and seamless media exchange for sports, gala, and live broadcast recording.

Overview
REC-1026 is a high-density embedded SDI recorder unit for multi-channel recording scenarios such as sports events, variety shows, galas, and large-scale reports. Each unit records 2 channels of 4K/HD SDI; a shared 2RU 20-slot chassis with redundant power scales that to 20 channels. Paired with a storage node or shared storage, it keeps indexing secure while integrating with the systems around it.
Challenge
Large multi-camera productions want every feed recorded, but an OB van's rack space is fixed — and the content still has to leave the truck fast, intact, and provably safe.
Density in fixed space
Sports events, variety shows, galas, and large-scale reporting demand as many simultaneous recording channels as possible inside a rack budget that does not grow.
Single recording path
One encode written to one place is one point of failure; a drive or a storage node going down should not cost the take.
Exchange friction
Recorded files have to reach production and broadcast systems without a file-copy marathon or a metadata set rebuilt on arrival.
Mixed control surfaces
Depending on the gallery, operators drive recording from shortcut keys, keyboard and mouse, or a remote control panel — one recorder has to answer to all three.
Solution
Each REC-1026 unit records 2 channels of 4K/HD SDI, and the 2RU 20-slot chassis stacks them to 20.
Key Features
- Density — 20 channels of 4K recording inside a 2RU device, on a shared 20-slot chassis with redundant power.
- Formats — Hardware encoding across SUVC, XAVC, ProRes, AVS-HFM, DNxHR, DNxHD, H.264, and H.265, written as MXF, MOV, or MP4.
- Data protection — 4 TB of hot-swappable local SSD storage per unit, plus mirrored dual-write that puts one encode on local storage and on a storage node or shared storage at the same time, each backing up the other.
- Exchange — Files write straight to individually pluggable SSD media. Paired with the SS20 and AS20 storage nodes, open disk information, file metadata, and clip tags carry material to other systems — or integrate directly through shared storage.
- Capture and control — Manual, scheduled, and playlist-based collection, cluster indexing with unified timecode tagging, 8-channel input AES audio bound to the video, and automatic file segmentation — driven from shortcut keys, keyboard and mouse, or a remote panel over a BS web interface.
- Interfaces — 2 × 12G-SDI inputs, 2 × 12G-SDI monitoring outputs, LTC input, and a 10G SFP+ network port per unit.
- Monitoring — SDI output drives multi-screen monitoring; an optional card adds up to 16 channels of video preview.

Scenarios
- Sports, galas and large events — Multi-channel recording for sports competitions, variety galas, and large-scale live events.
- Live news reporting — Dense multi-camera signal capture where rack space is limited.
- Cross-system media exchange — Broadcast production pipelines needing secure, interchangeable recorded media with complete metadata.
- Footage safety — Dual-storage backup that prevents footage loss during live recording.

Result
A recording tier that fits the truck: twenty 4K channels in 2RU, every encode written twice, and media that unplugs and walks to post carrying its own metadata.
Channels of 4K/HD SDI recording in a single 2RU chassis.
Local recording space per unit, behind mirrored dual-write.
Channels of video monitoring on the optional multi-screen card.
Encoding formats, from SUVC and XAVC to ProRes and DNxHR.
